Synopsis by Hans J. Wollstein

Louis Joseph Vance's 1907 mystery melodrama The Brass Bowl came to the screen in 1924 courtesy of the Fox company, who starred the debonair Edmund Lowe in a double role as the story's two protagonists, wealthy Dan Maitland and his lookalike, the master criminal Anisty. Arriving at his country estate, Maitland interrupts a young lady, Sylvia (Claire Adams, apparently in the process of lifting several pieces of valuable jewelry from his safe. Mistaking Maitland for Anisty, Sylvia happily hands over the gems, but things get more complicated when the real Anisty suddenly turns up. Soon, Dan is posing as Anisty and vice versa. In the end, Sylvia helps Dan defeat his evil double and the two fall in love. The Brass Bowl had been filmed earlier, by the Edison company in 1914, and Fox would produce a sound version in 1929 under the title of Masqueradeand starring stage actor Alan Birmingham.
