To teach Cory (Ben Savage) a lesson, Mr. Feeny (William Daniels) switches places with the boy in class for a week. If Cory finds teaching as "easy" as he thinks, and if more kids pass an upcoming test than usual, Mr. Feeny will give Cory one-fifth of his salary. But if more kids end up failing the test than usual, Feeny will gain possession of Cory's precious bike. The outcome of this story, together with a subplot involving Eric's Asian girlfriend Linda (Lindsay Price), hinges upon Cory's full understanding of the week's class project, "The Diary of Anne Frank."
