Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Boxcar Blues is a well-intentioned "little" picture about a man's debt to himself. Paul Coufos plays a washed-up prizefighter, heading to New Orleans for what may be his last bout. His opponent, played by real-life boxer Jesse Ventura, takes sadistic glee in killing other fighters with his bare fists. En route to his date with destiny, Coufos meets several colorful lowlifes, each of whom forces the hasbeen pugilist to look deep into his own soul. Margaret Langrick costars as Coufos' sometimes girlfriend, while M. Emmet Walsh chews the scenery as a truck-driving evangelist.
