Synopsis by Janiss Garza

When stern Judge McClure (Melbourne McDowell) gets into an argument with his younger brother John (George Webb), a physical fight ensues in which the judge apparently kills John. In fear of the consequences, he runs off to the West and hires guide Cal Nelson (Roy Stewart) to take him far into the desert. Along the way they meet Mary Jackson (Belle Bennett), and the judge, overcome by heat prostration, babbles out his secret. Mary overhears, and because she cares for him, admits that she, too, is a criminal. They plan to marry, but when they arrive at a hotel, the judge finds a newspaper saying that his brother is recovering from his wounds. He now becomes a moralist and insists that instead of marrying Mary, he must turn her in to the sheriff. She is rescued by Cal, and when the judge is told that his brother has died since the item in the paper, he once again becomes a fugitive and dies in a sandstorm. Mary admits that her only crime is that she is the daughter of a bandit, so nothing stands in the way of her happiness with Cal.
