Synopsis

A two-part chronicle of the quest for peace in Northern Ireland, from "Bloody Sunday" (1972) to the 1998 Good Friday accords and beyond, featuring remarks from three British prime ministers, four Irish prime ministers, and former president Bill Clinton, as well as political figures (and some paramilitary ones) in Northern Ireland. Part 1 begins in the early 1980s. Violence continued, but talks began. Says Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams: "We made it clear that there was no military solution."
