Synopsis by Emru Townsend

Fed up with their humdrum routine, Margaret insists that she and Bob be spontaneous and take a trip to the most exciting place they've ever heard of: New York City. As fate would have it, a snowstorm forces their plane to land at Pearson airport in Toronto, where they run into none other than Cookie and Melvin Fish, whose flight to Florida has been canceled. The cousins insist that Bob and Margaret stay with them for the few days until their flight can take off. Those few days turn into weeks when Melvin gets them into an accident, and Bob and Margaret stay with the Canadian Fishes to recover. Meanwhile, in England, Penny's boyfriend convinces her to shirk her task of taking care of the dogs. After a few weeks of grating on each others' nerves, Cookie and Melvin quickly leave to resume their holiday, leaving Bob and Margaret to take care of the house and the cats. When they turn on the TV to see news from back home, they discover to their horror that their dogs have made the news -- for being abandoned by their negligent owners. This episode marks the first of 26 episodes set in Canada, owing to the show's mainly Canadian funding. This episode also marks Brian George's debut as the new voice of Bob, and the end of Alison Snowden and David Fine's involvement as directors and story editors. (Originally aired May 30, 2001.)
