Wall Street bigwig Samson Oakley II (David M. Hartford) is growing ever more unhappy with his son, Samson Oakley III (William Desmond). Samson Jr. was expelled from college after being accused of someone else's misdeeds, so his father gives him an allowance and sends him away. But when the young man marries chorus girl Nora (Enid Markey), he is cut off altogether. Young Oakley gets his hands dirty as a machinist, while his father becomes the pawn in a scheme to ruin his company. The Wall Street plotters convince him to take a cruise for his health, and while he's gone, they spread a rumor that he is dead so they can raid the market. The son hears the news and rushes to his father's office, cracking the safe to remove enough securities to save the company. When his father returns, he decides his son has proved his mettle and welcomes him, and his wife, back into the family.
