This documentary takes a look at the history and evolution of the Black Metal musical subgenre, tracing it back to the ideas and imagery from ancient Nordic myths that appear in its lyrics, and the Viking melodies that have inspired its musicality. Moving into the 21st century, the film then examines how Black Metal has manifested itself over the years, and even takes a look at the more controversial areas surrounding the subculture including suicide, self-mutilation, and church burning.
