Synopsis by John Patrick Sheehan

Part of the Biography television series from A&E, this documentary reviews the career and personal life of Prince Charles. The eldest son of Elizabeth II, Prince Charles married Lady Diana Frances, the daughter of the eighth Earl of Spencer in 1981. During the course of their fifteen-year marriage, Prince Charles and Lady Diana's relationship was subjected to intense scrutiny, especially in the mid-1990s when it became clear that their marriage was in jeopardy. Throughout his marriage and divorce, Prince Charles was portrayed by the public and in the press as a stodgy and unsympathetic man whose coldness towards his young wife led directly to her widely publicized struggles with depression and bulimia. Since her death, Charles has undergone an image rehabilitation of sorts--once seen as a largely negligent parent, he is now very publicly involved in the lives of his sons, and recent photo-ops have portrayed him as a much more light-hearted, fun-loving potential king.
