Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka

In a strange story based on a real-life event, this slow-paced experimental film by Harun Farocki deals with the death of a man's wife and its subsequent and lengthy cover-up. After Jens Baumann (Roland Schafter) accidentally kills his wife, he confesses what happened to his lover -- her sister in fact. The sister then hits upon the idea of taking over the role of Jens' wife because they look so much alike. The ruse works for a long time, and the sister even adopts her own two young children. So much for the public's powers of observation.
