Synopsis by Sarah Block

Blues-rock guitarist Andy Aledort introduces beginning musicians to the essential components of electric blues guitar. Capitalizing on his years of experience as an accompanist to the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Joe Perry, Dickey Betts, and Stevie Ray Vaughan, as well as his work as senior editor for Guitar World magazine, Aledort inspires novice guitarists with easy-to-follow explanations and demonstrations. Featured segments include the twelve-bar blues form, the blues scale, major and minor pentatonics, combining scales, shuffle rhythm, pick harmonics, and seventh chords. Bonus solo performances by Aledort of classic blues tunes by B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Eric Clapton help to reinforce the techniques taught in the program.
