During the 1830's Texas was fighting for its independence from Mexico; Sam Houston led their cause and their army. The story of the Alamo is told in this video, the old mission fort was deemed of no strategic importance ordered by Houston to be abandoned. Yet on February 24, 1836, Jim Bowie, Davy Crockett, William Travis and nearly two hundred members of the Texas army felt the Alamo was worth protecting and held off General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna four-thousand man army for twelve days before losing their lives and the fort. This battle gave Houston nearly two weeks to assemble reinforcements and delay Santa Anna's advancement into Texas. It also rallied the Texans behind the cause. Two months after the Alamo fell the Mexican army lost the war. This video recreates the infamous battle of the Alamo.
