The plot of this episode is someone ominous, given the real-life events that would catastrophically alter the life of series star Robert Blake some 23 years later. Undercover cop Tony Baretta (Robert Blake) is reunited with former girlfriend Jennifer (Tracy Brooks Swope), who insists that Tony is the father of her young son. Understandably taken aback, Baretta is prepared to "do the right thing" by proposing to Jennifer. But the marriage may never come off: A mysterious crime boss has sent a hired assassin to murder both Jennifer and the boy.
