Bar, El Chino transpires primarily in an establishment that provides the film with its title. Boy Olmi plays Jorge, a regular at the drinking establishment who has been trying for years to make a documentary film about the bar and the people who pass through it. One day another filmmaker named Martina (Jimena de la Torre) enters the place. The two begin a filmmaking partnership that is quite fruitful. They also begin a personal relationship that causes them problems.
