Synopsis by Jason Buchanan
Director Jordan Clark puts a human face on the subject of prostitution in Thailand with this look at the sex tourism industry centering on a nineteen year old bar girl named Pla, and the circumstances that swept her into her current environment. Prostitution can take many forms in Thailand, from the girl who simply pours your drink at the bar to the woman who exchanges sex for cash. While Pla has managed to avoid selling her body for the first two decades of her life, what does the future hold? Perhaps by seeing themselves through the eyes of a girl whose dreams and desires were forever changed by the introduction of "falangs" (foreigners) to Thailand, the viewer can gain a better understanding of just how rapidly the economy and moral landscape of the country is changing as the practice of sex tourism becomes more prevalent and socially acceptable.
