Closed Windows narrates the story of a career woman who, as a child, was abused emotionally by her mother and now is abused sexually by her husband. She finds refuge at her father's place and tries to come to terms with her past and her present. The script is based on a famous novel, The Dark Holds No Terrors by Shashi Deshpande, which is written more like an interior monologue, hence the difficulty of adapting it to screen. Director Perma Karath misses the finest points of how the woman deals with her suffering and instead concentrates on heavily dramatized scenes bombarded by loud music -- as if to let the audience know when to feel empathy. The protagonist is not believable at all, neither as a pediatrician, nor as a wife who would let herself be violated night after night, and the husband, the father and the children are all caricatures.
