Synopsis by Robert Firsching

Based on a popular Hong Kong radio series, this broad comedy from director Jimmy Sin stars Michael Chow, Simon Lui, and Edmond Leung as the dispirited hosts of a low-rated talk radio show called Love Studio which is facing cancellation. On what is scheduled to be their final program, the angry trio insults callers and berates what is left of their meager audience. Much to everyone's surprise, the raunchy program is a hit. Hastily rechristened Banana Club in a rather obvious jape at its three male hosts, the show rockets to the top of the ratings, but the romantic travails of its hosts continue unabated. Michael falls for a regular call-in listener named Vee (Paulyn Suen) who has a crush on a married man; Simon is pursued by the secretary, Mindy (Halina Tam); and Edmond has doubts about his sexual preference which are only reinforced by the free-spirited Mad (Amanda Lee), who has recently given up men. Naturally, all three men eventually get the girls of their dreams and find true happiness, despite the various comedic entanglements along the way. This amusing romp features cameos by Raymond Wong, Christine Ng, and Emily Kwan, among others. The same year's Top Banana Club also concerns a radio show, but is not related to this film.
