Veteran director Mehboob Khan made this melodrama about love and incest. After elder brother Amar (Sheikh Mukhtar) saves his baby sister Bina's life, he becomes extremely protective of her. When the young lass grows into a young woman, Bina (Nalini Jaywant) longs to marry a liberal-minded social reformer named Raknedra (Harish), but Amar has other plans. He pays petty criminal Moti (Kanyaiyalal) to agree to marry her and then vanish, forcing his beloved sister to live with her lecherous sibling forever. When that scheme falls apart, Amar's grief at Bina's marriage only abets when she as a daughter of her own.
