Madge Kennedy stars as actress Gloria Waring, who is trying to save her brother, Dick Reynolds (Charles Emmett Mack), from the fortune-hunting Teddy Lamont (Lucille Lee Stewart). To get her hands on her father's will, she disguises herself and holds up James Hamilton (Conway Tearle) and his friend, Judge Peter Ewing (Bigelow Cooper). She gets the will, but not long after, Hamilton recognizes her at a reception. After he confronts her, she confesses to the hold-up and explains why she did it. Hamilton, who has fallen for her, offers to help, and then he discovers that Teddy is a woman he had been involved with long ago. Dick and Teddy are about to be married, when Hamilton interrupts the ceremony and claims that he is her common-law husband. Gloria's disappointment in Hamilton is acute and he prepares to leave for Europe. Judge Ewing explains to Gloria that Hamilton sacrificed himself to save Dick, and that his affair with Teddy was an indiscretion of his distant past. Now that Gloria understands Hamilton's motivations, the two of them reconcile.
