Synopsis by Hal Erickson

The Indonesian Ayahku (My Father) takes place two decades after W.D. Mochtar deserted his family to take up with another woman. Now the man has returned home in disgrace, hoping against hope that time has indeed healed all wounds. The film concentrates not on the prodigal father but on his wife and three grown children. Mother and two of the kids are willing to forgive and try to forget. The oldest son remains unmoved. The question now becomes: what will it take to move him, and will it occur before the film's 90 minutes have run out?
