Comprised of six, hour-long episodes, the Canadian documentary series The Astronomers detailed the accomplishment of major astrophysical research projects in the late 20th century. John Dobson, Tony Tyson, and Raja Guhathakurta were among the astronomers cited. Episode titles included "Where Is the Rest of the Universe?," "Searching for Black Holes," "A Window to Creations," "Waves of the Future," "Stardust," and "Prospecting the Planets." Each episode was enhanced by music indigenous to region where the episode was filmed, as well as an abundance of high-tech special effects. Richard Chamberlain served as narrator. Funded primarily by a five-million-dollar grant from the W.M. Keck Foundation, Astronomers aired in Canada in 1990, then was rebroadcast in the U.S. courtesy of PBS.
