Feeling overworked, Mary (Mary Tyler Moore) asks Lou (Edward Asner) to hire an assistant for her. Lou elects instead to allow Mary to choose her own assistant. This proves to be a recipe for disaster when Mary hires her flighty landlady, Phyllis (Cloris Leachman), a woman capable of planting thoughts of murder in even the most peace-loving soul. Future Good Times and Roots star John Amos makes his first series appearance as Gordy the weatherman. "Assistant Wanted, Female" was first broadcast on November 21, 1970.
