Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka

The inner turmoil of a college professor is at the heart of this routine psychological drama from India, based on a novel by Madampu Kunjukuttan who also plays the professor. The man is caught between rebelling against backward ways of thinking in the government, society, and religion, and not making waves. He is unable to openly rebel and so his anguish is turned inward as he starts to rely on alcohol and prostitutes to cure his turmoil. In the meantime, he proceeds to alienate most of his friends. In a brave attempt at reforming, he marries a good woman and gets another job teaching school -- but that only means he has mistakenly ignored his inner agitation, expecting the solution to his troubles to lie in a new life.
