Synopsis by Mark Deming

A wife and mother finds herself hovering on the verge of a breakdown in this psychological drama from Iran. Tahareh (Hengameh Ghaziani) lives with her husband, her son and her daughter in a middle-class neighborhood, and she devotes her days to looking after their needs. However, between a lack of attention or empathy from her workaholic mate and the selfish attitude of her children who expect their mom to wait on them hand and foot, Tahareh has almost no time for herself, and the stress of her life has been taking a heavy toll on her. Tahareh has money and security, but beyond reading the Koran she has little to comfort her mind and spirit, and she's began making plans to abandon her family. However, as fate would have it, she just doesn't have the time to run away, and despite talks with her clergyman and a close friend, she begins slipping closer to the point of emotional collapse. Be hamin sadegi (aka As Simple As That) was a multiple award winner at the 2008 Fajr Film Festival.
