Synopsis by Alice Day

The popularity of handmade pottery declined with the arrival of the Industrial Revolution, and English potters struggled to find a market for their wares. Mass-produced items held the public's attention for many years, but a group of traditional potters, led by Michael Cardew, has renewed interest in individually made ceramics. Artists of the World: Michael Cardew - Master Potter shows the potter at work, adding his personal touches to jugs and teacups. The scenes of Cardew at work are interspersed with his thoughts regarding his personal views of life and his craft.
