Synopsis by Alice Day

Francisco Goya is one of the most famous Spanish painters who ever lived, and his art influenced 18th and 19th century painters. His realistic works were known the world over, and many regard him as the father of modern art. He became disillusioned with political developments during his last years and moved to southern France, where he died. Artists of the World: Goya -- The Painter Who Lost His Head tells of the Spanish government's attempt to bring back his body to Madrid, and the discovery that his head was missing from his remains. Viewers will learn the solution to the puzzle, and see many of Goya's works.
