Synopsis by Sally Barber
The Artists of America series takes viewers into the personal world of some of the art community's most revered citizens. Ten programs delve into the life, philosophy, and works of the nation's greatest painters and sculptors. The program Michael Earney: The Utilitarian Artist profiles the British-born artist whose heart was captured by America's West. Working in acrylic, clay, and film, he uses his art to challenge perception and encourages us to increase our sensitivities to the intangible characteristics of life. In this film, Earney also explores the more practical aspect of being an artist and provides his perspective on the commercial side of being an artist.
