Synopsis by Jonathan Crow
Debaki Bose directs this romantic melodrama about faith and industry. In order to appease her dying father, Meera (Shanta Apte), a social worker who is trying to unionize the tribal hill people of a nearby jungle, agrees to marry the lumber contractor Narendra (Chandramohan). Since her good works conflict directly with his business interests, Narendra demands that his new wife devote herself solely to his well-being. When she balks at that sweeping demand, Meera storms out of the house. Later, Narendra has a change of heart when he hears that she has supposedly drown in the local river.
