Synopsis by Mark Deming

A father has to learn how to be a mother for the sake of his daughter in this drama from writer and director Achero Manas. Leo (Juan Diego Botto) and Alicia (Ana Risueno) are the proud parents of a four-year-old daughter, Dafne (Lucia Fernandez), but though Leo clearly loves his child, he often puts his work as a lawyer ahead of his responsibilities as a father, and it's Alicia who does most of the hands-on parenting in the household. That changes dramatically when Alicia suddenly dies and Leo has to take on the duties of both mother and father. Dafne soon makes it clear that she needs a more nurturing figure in her life and asks for a "fake mommy." Leo's efforts to replace Alicia with his former girlfriend Marta (Najwa Nimri) don't go well, and one day Dafne asks Leo to dress up as her mother to make her feel better. When the notion seems to work, Leo turns to Alex (Jose Luis Gomez), a veteran comedian with a drag act, for practical advice on how to look and act like a woman, and soon he's regularly impersonating Alicia around the house. While this helps Dafne through her rough patch and allows Leo to get in touch with his nurturing side, he finds this hard to explain to others, who deem his behavior strange and even morbid. Todo lo que tu quieras (aka Anything You Want) received its North American debut at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival.
