Synopsis by Steve Blackburn
Hosted by Annie Getchell, this video features episode 12 from the second season of the award-winning PBS television series. In this installment, guest Cameron McNeish guides Getchell over the Knoydart peninsula, which lies in West Inverness-shire between Loch Hourn and Loch Shiel. Known in Gaelic as "Na Garbh Chriochan," Knoydart is famed now as the last wilderness area of the British Isles. As Getchell and McNeish hike, viewers learn the history of the enforced depopulation of the area during the 19th century, which contributed to emigration to Canada and the United States. To this day the region remains sparsely populated, with no road linking the famed Old Forge pub in Inverie hamlet to central Scotland.
