Synopsis by Donald Guarisco

This 1971 release from Shaw Brothers is a good example of the teamwork between the company's famous "Iron Triangle": in other words, the team of director Chang Cheh and stars David Chiang and Ti Lung. The Anonymous Heroes takes its cues from westerns and war films as it tells the tale of Meng Kang (Chiang) and Tieh (Lung), a pair of charming rogues who find a meaningful use for their fighting skills and trickery when they cross paths with Wan (Ku Feng). Wan is a revolutionary who wants to steal a shipment of military guns for his people. Meng Kang and Tieh join him in this daring mission and also enlist the help of Pepper (Li Ching), the brassy daughter of a military official. Their quest to liberate and distribute the guns involves plenty of action, including everything from hand-to-hand fights to a chase between a train and soldiers on horseback. The Anonymous Heroes was a hit for the "Iron Triangle" team and is also notable for using the skills of martial arts choreographer Lau Kar Leung, who would later become a distinguished director in his own right.
