Synopsis by Alice Day

The Sioux incorporated warrior training into the lives of their young boys, realizing that their ability to fight would help the tribe to survive; their territories were being threatened by other Indian tribes and the white man. Faced with increasing numbers of white men encroaching on their lands, they fought back, most notably at Custer's Last Stand. In Ancient Tribes: The Sioux, viewers learn that the Sioux's victories were few against a formidable enemy, and despite their will to fight, did not have the resources of the U.S. forces. This series of programs appeared originally on the Learning Channel.
