Synopsis by Betsy Boyd
An Illustrated Guide to Caricature discusses the history of this satirical cartoon form. Caricature, the art of drawing highly exaggerated versions of real people for comedic effect, has been around for several hundred years. Contemporary caricaturists Luck and Flaw take viewers on a tour of the history of caricature, surveying pieces by early artists, such as Cruikshank, Low, Daumier, Dantan, and 20th century cartoonists Ralph Steadman, Gerard Scarfe, and Steve Bell. Low and Flaw also discuss the art form's important political and societal impact.
