Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Rhoda Canby (Zena Keefe) has inherited a fortune and is now being hounded by a bunch of money-hungry aunts and uncles. To escape them, she and her black servant (Pauline Dempsey) go to another town and Rhoda takes up another name. She has read of the suicide of one Irving Mason (Hugh Dillman) and decides to become his widow. So the newly-christened Mrs. Irving Mason is taken in by the Mason family, a much nicer group of people than her own relations. What she doesn't know is that Irving was a good-looking slacker who she knew under another name. And the guy isn't dead -- he was going to jump off a pier in an alcohol-induced depression, but he had been shanghaied aboard a tramp steamer. This turn of events makes a man out of Irving and he comes back to his relatives on a night that the family store has caught on fire. He dashes in and rescues a girl who turns out to be Rhoda. He remembers how much he cared for her when he knew her before, and winds up marrying his "widow."
