Synopsis
Comedian George Kirby narrates a 1983 retrospective on the sitcom (1951-53), which was withdrawn from syndication in 1966 following a six-year NAACP protest. Included: a history of the series; an entire episode, "Kingfish Sells a Lot"; clips from other shows; and interviews with the Rev. Jesse Jackson, Redd Foxx, Henry Lee Moon (former NAACP spokesman), Alvin Childress (Amos), Ernestine Wade (Sapphire) and Marla Gibbs.
