Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Back in 1918, "buds" didn't mean "pals". The American Buds of the title are two very young girls, "budding" into womanhood. The stars are Jane and Katherine Lee, a popular adolescent sister team often billed as "The Two Little Imps." In this one, the Lee girls charm their way into the heart of a crusty colonel, played by the corpulent Albert Gran. American Buds was produced by Fox Studios, which two decades later would still be fashioning movie vehicles for such precocious tykes as Shirley Temple and Jane Withers.
