Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter

This program is part of the popular investigative series on HBO America Undercover. The subject of this episode is the increasingly common problem of those suffering from panic attacks. The program delves into the reasons behind the symptoms, which often leave the person feeling not only terrified of some unknown threat, but ashamed of feelings of incompetence and dread in a "can do" culture. Actress Kim Basinger and football player Earl Campbell talk about what it is like to be in the dark maelstrom of a panic attack, and how they are coping with the disorder. Psychologists discuss ways to alleviate the symptoms of panic disorder, so that the sufferer can go on with a normal life.
