Synopsis

Technically, a hermaphrodite is a person born with some portion of the genitalia of both sexes. Thus, the claims of Georgette Dee to be a hermaphrodite when she is apparently a gender-bending man who wears "masculine" female attire are somewhat doubtful. However, fans of the Dietrich-style singer and entertainer will not be put off by such considerations. This star vehicle puts forward the notion that the entertainer and all those appearing in the film are Polish, though most of the action takes place in Berlin, and all the dialogue is in German. In this somewhat odd fashion, the story's pretenses mirror those of Dee. Reviewers found the onstage sections featuring Dee's accompanist Terry Truck to be the highlights of this film, which is otherwise strictly for fans only.
