Synopsis by Jonathan Crow
Master Bhagwan directs this commercially and critically successful musical about a lowly office worker (Bhagwan) who dreams of being a star of the stage. His slow march to the top is helped by the beautiful and successful diva Asha (Geeta Bali) with whom he inevitably falls in love. Meanwhile, the would-be star's domestic life is more than a little complicated: his mother (Pratima Devi) dies; his father (Badri Prasad) disowns him; and his evil in-laws try to provoke more familial unrest. Bhagwan reportedly sold the rights to this film for a song, resulting in him getting nary a sausage for the movie's 1990 remake.
