Synopsis by Sandra Brennan

This intense documentary focuses upon the daring escape of 519 Russians as they escaped from the Mauthausen concentration camp on February 2, 1945. Of that group only 9 survived. This escape became the basis of the movie "The Quality of Mercy". This documentary compares the making of the film to the reality. One of the nine, Mikhail Ribchinsky, revisits the camp ruins to relive his escape. The film disturbing footage of men in concentration camps and an unsettling interview with an old Austrian who believes Hitler was right.
