Basil Davidson hosts the second in a series Africa: The Story of a Continent, Program 2 - Mastering a Continent, taking a look at three different African groups, the Nok, the Dogon, and the Pokat. While many regard these societies as primitive, Davidson points out the complexity of their lifestyles. The Nok live in Nigeria and have made advances both in agriculture and ironworking. In Mali, the Dogon have evolved an intricate practice of religion. The Pokat of Kenya discuss gender differences in labor and the necessities of life for a groom-to-be.
