Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka

Life at both ends of the economic spectrum is depicted in this uneven tragi-comedy, from director Roger M'Bala Gnoan, about a group of street urchins and a wealthy, arrogant couple who live in the same city. The young street kids ingeniously devise ways to steal food and money and stick together with a valid sense of strength in numbers. As their lives are glimpsed during the day and night, the focus shifts to the Ablakons who live in an affluent section of town. Ablakon himself is a crooked businessman who has a mistress on the side, and that, it turns out, is his undoing. Unexpected circumstances land him in the police station after an evening's tryst with his lover, and he finds himself forced to flee the city to his native village. Once there, Ablakon reverts to his low-life tactics of duping the gullible, never considering that a young street kid might come back to the village and catch on to his underhanded dealings.
