Love blossoms between a rigid French chef and a retired fireman with a successful restaurant in this lighthearted romantic drama for the entire family. Sara Westbrook (Teri Polo) is a classically trained chef whose upscale restaurant is struggling to stay in business when former fireman Gill Callahan (James Patrick Stuart) opens his Five Alarm Grill right next door. When the locals take a liking to the Five Alarm Grill, Sarah develops a grudge against its handsome owner. Upon meeting Gill's ten-year-old daughter Hannah (Bailee Madison), however, the revelation that her rival is a struggling single father tugs at the uptight restaurateur's heartstrings. Meanwhile, Hannah does her best to form a love connection between her father and Sara. At first it looks like they may be a perfect match, too, but when a local food critic enters the picture, the competition between the two chefs grows more fierce than ever before.
