Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Like many a country girl before her, Alice Gilson (Margarita Fisher) goes to the big city. She gets involved with a highbrow group of Bohemians, led by Peyton LeMoyne (Val Paul). When she meets lawyer Thurston Bruce (Jack Mower), she falls for him even though he doesn't share her interest in the group. But when they marry, she insists that they draw up a contract, giving them each complete freedom, and making the marriage easily dissolvable. Things become strained almost immediately because Bruce has to share his home with the highbrows headed by LeMoyne, whose "mental companionship" looks awfully suspicious. Then, when Bruce immerses himself in an important case, Alice -- who has changed her name to Alys -- goes over to her husband's office and finds him in an intense discussion with his secretary, Marion Hamilton (Constance Johnson). Finally Bruce insists that the marriage be terminated, and Alice sees where her theories have gotten her. She goes to cry on LeMoyne's shoulder, and he promptly points out the uselessness of marriage and makes a pass at her. With her illusions thoroughly dashed, she goes home to her parents, and overhears Bruce gloating with her mother over the success of their ploy. Alice realizes that her husband has seen through her foolishness and gratefully reunites with him.
