Synopsis by Hans J. Wollstein
Director John Ford's older brother Francis Ford wrote, directed, and starred in this western comedy about a bored Eastern girl (Florence Gilbert), who, to her delight, is set up to be romantically carried away by a masked bandit. The bandit is supposed to be her uncle's foreman (Edmund Cobb) but he is waylaid by a real outlaw, Arizona Dick (Burt Maddock). Naturally, Arizona kidnaps the girl for real and a wild chase ensues. Produced on the cheap by Ashton Dearholt, A Rodeo Mixup seems to have been somewhat of a family affair. In addition to Dearholt's wife (Gilbert), the cast also included Helen Hayes, the wife of leading man Cobb.
