Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Before the USO, there was Elsie Janis. During World War I, the star turned her back on Broadway and went to Europe to entertain the troops. So the patriotic story to this film, released about a year after the war's end, was especially appropriate for her. Elizabeth Schuyler (Janis) is a social butterfly until the war comes along. Then she goes to Europe to be a nurse and to entertain the soldiers, a new venture that makes her realize how shallow her former life was. After the war, she discovers that some of the soldiers she befriended are staying at a boarding house and she goes to work there as a slavey. The men are all out of work, and Elizabeth is determined to help them find jobs. Her father (Robert Lyton) tells her that if she raises 10,000 dollars for her cause, he will match it, so she decides to hold a society circus. Elizabeth herself is the bareback rider and also flies around on the trapeze. Mr. Schuyler is horrified to see his daughter running around in a tutu, but since she comes up with the ten thou, he coughs up his share for her project.
