A pioneering British TV miniseries, A Matter of Degree was written by a Welsh woman and aimed primarily at a Welsh viewership. Anita Morgan played the main character, a young girl who earned a place at Oxford University. The girl's sudden academic advancement caused trouble and dissent amongst her Welsh mining family. A Matter of Degree was aired live by the BBC from May 16 to 20, 1960.
