Synopsis by Janiss Garza

In the hills of Virginia, Old Mathis, a landowner (Frank Montgomery), has been the victim of the machinations of a lumber trust. He tells his daughter Renie (Mabel Talliaferro) that any family member of the trust's head (William Black) is their sworn enemy. Of course, when the head's nephew, Eric (William Garwood), arrives to work out a deal with Old Mathis, he and Renie fall in love. They secretly get married, but a telegram from his uncle calls him away. He is involved in a car accident, but Renie doesn't know this and thinks he's deserted her. Her former fiancé, Bud (William B. Davidson) comes home to claim her, but she refuses to marry him without explaining why. Her father angrily throws her out of the house, and she goes to the lumber boss, Peets, because he claims to have heard from Eric. However, he's lying and he assaults Renie. During their struggle, Peets is accidentally shot and killed. When Eric finally returns to town, he finds his wife on trial for her life, and he both secures her acquittal and announces their marriage.
