Little newsgirl Alannah Malone (Bessie Love) is determined to hold onto her own street corner against all comers. She mercilessly thrashes one rival newsboy, but he turns around and becomes her biggest admirer. After the death of her mother (Ann Schaefer), both young people go to work at a beanery. When the District Attorney decides to run for mayor against the incumbent, Alannah helps him out by playing detective. The present mayor, who presents himself as a philanthropist, is really involved in graft, and she exposes him for what he really is. Her admirer is suspicious of the DA's attentions at first, but when he is elected he gives both the boy and girl important jobs in his administration.
