Cinematographer Ted Voigtlander got his start in the film industry in MGM's script department. Prior to that, he had studied to become a bacteriologist. He became an assistant cameraman in the 1940s and worked on a number of major films, including Oklahoma! After becoming a cinematographer, Voigtlander primarily worked in television. He has won three Emmy awards and been nominated 16 times. He has only occasionally photographed feature films.
